Hoarding Disorder is an area of special interest to me. I am specialized in Hoarding Disorder treatment. I have worked with individuals who have had a hoarding disorder for many decades, within community and in private homes. I currently provide psychotherapy in my office only.

I provide consultation, supervision and educational workshops on this topic.

I have experience working with various degrees of hoarding behaviours (collectors to problematic environments).  My training began in the early 90’s with Dr. Randy Frost, a leading specialist in Hoarding Disorder.  I continue to apply the teachings of Dr. Frost and Dr. Steketee in my strategies and understanding.  In addition, I have developed eclectic, creative treatment tools to help individuals move beyond solely focusing on de-cluttering their home.  I was an advisory member of The Ottawa Hoarding Coalition before it was dissolved.

My therapeutic non-judgmental presence aims at creating a safe space for clients to change or modify the hoarding in their lives.  My therapeutic style and professional competence with hoarding has developed over the years through listening and supporting individuals in their journey. My approach is based on your readiness to assess and create change.

I understand that many people with hoarding behaviours are often misunderstood.  I maintain a perspective that is respectful of you and your items. The unpleasant experience of having someone else clear out your home can be quite traumatic and shame inducing.  I offer an empathetic and understanding presence to help you process this experience.

I offer professional consultation to professionals and family members or friends who help individuals with hoarding behaviours.
