It is important to find a therapist you feel comfortable with, someone you feel you can trust. I offer a free initial phone or video consultation to answer any questions you may have about the process of therapy, my approach, or how we will work together.

How long is therapy?

The number and frequency of sessions required will be based on your clinical needs, your time and financial considerations. Sessions are typically 50 min in duration.

Is my therapy covered by insurance?

The majority of my services are covered by most insurance plans

What are my Payment Options?

At this time, payment is accepted by Visa, Mastercard and chip-enabled Debit. At the time of payment a receipt will be issued or e-mailed to you.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

Your  appointment is reserved exclusively for you. If you know in advance that you will need to cancel a session, a 48 hour cancellation notice is preferred. However a 24 hour notice is required. Failure to provide a 24 hour notice will result in the FULL session charge.

If you are late for an appointment, I am unable to extend the session which will end as scheduled and be charged at the FULL rate.

How is my Privacy Protected?

In general, the privacy of all communications between a client and psychotherapist is protected. I can only release information about our work together with your written permission. There are, however, exceptions to this rule.

1) Should you be involved in a legal proceeding,  the  judge may make a choice to subpoena my records and I am legally bound to provide a copy to the court.

2) If I believe on reasonable grounds that disclosure is necessary to eliminate or reduce significant, imminent risk of serious bodily harm (includes physical or psychological harm) to yourself or anyone else, (e.g. suicide, homicide)  there may be a professional and legal duty to warn the intended victim or to contact relevant authorities, such as the police, or to inform a physician who is involved in your care that you have the intent and ability to carry out this threat in the very near future. I am required by law to take all of the steps necessary to try to ensure your safety. This may mean contacting police for their assistance and/or contacting your doctor or psychiatrist or family.

3) If I believe that a child is in need of protection due to physical harm, neglect or sexual abuse, I am legally required to report this to the Children’s Aid Society.

4) I am legally required to follow any order to facilitate an investigation or inspection if authorized by warrant or by any provincial or federal law (e.g. a criminal investigation).

5) Relevant Information can be disclosed for the purpose of contacting a relative, friend or potential substitute decision-maker if you are injured, incapacitated or ill and unable to give consent personally.

6) If while providing service to a client who is a regulated health professional I have reasonable grounds to believe that the client has sexually abused a patient I am bound by mandatory reporting laws.
